Healthy Business Challenge Launches
HEAL has launched their Healthy Business Challenge! Working Marylanders spend an average of 9.2 hours per day at work making the workplace a key venue for promoting healthy lifestyle choices. The challenge encourages businesses to implement workplace-wide projects and activities that impact health and wellness of their employees.
As part of this Challenge, criteria have been developed in three categories: Healthy Eating, Physical Activity and Overall Wellness. Businesses can select criteria they plan to implement from these lists. The Progress Report is designed to be a working document and can be filled in throughout the Challenge period as tasks are completed. Varying level of points are earned for completion of criteria. All businesses achieving a minimum of 4 pts/category will receive a “Healthy Business” designation. Awards will also be presented in late 2017 to those companies with the highest number of points and that go above and beyond in creating a healthier business environment.
The Challenge is open to all businesses (profit and nonprofit) that have employees and an office/facility in Washington County. Registration will be open until February 28 for the pilot year.
A special thanks to Herald-Mail Media for setting up the registration on the Healthy Washington County site and to the Michael G. Callas Charitable Trust for making the pilot year possible.
