Washington County Diabetes Prevention Program

(Conducted by the Washington County Health Department)

Did you know that losing just 7% of your total body weight through healthy eating reduces your risk of type 2 diabetes and heart disease? Changing your lifestyle can make all the difference in your health.

If you feel you are at high risk for type 2 diabetes, check out the National Diabetes Prevention program being conducted by the Washington County Health Department. The National Diabetes Prevention Program is a public-private partnership of community organizations, private insurers, employers, health care organizations, and government agencies. These partners are working to establish local evidence-based lifestyle change programs for people at high risk. Participants meet weekly for an hour with a trained Lifestyle Coach. After the initial 16 weeks and the momentum for change is in place, the support continues with monthly sessions.
